Conferences 2006

Date: Friday 22 September 2006
Venue: Wells Cathedral, Somerset
Time: 7:30 - 9:15 pm.

We invite you to come together with many Christians from around Somerset to be encouraged as you hear what God is doing in peoples' lives as they come to faith in Christ and to pray for God to transform your communities.

'Prayer for Somerset' will be a dynamic beacon prayer event and will pull together hundreds of Christians from across the county to pray for the re-evangelisation and social transformation of local communities within Somerset.

We are thrilled to be able to hold such an event in Wells Cathedral, a very beautiful, historic and significant place of worship within the county. The event will be held on Friday 22nd September 2006 at 7.30pm.

Our vision is to inspire and support Christians, to promote the spread of God's kingdom and to inform local leaders of the impact on communities through lives changed as a result of coming to faith in Christ. This high profile event will launch new Alpha and Emmaus courses in local churches.

The prayer meeting will be dynamic and interactive and will include:
  • worship in a contemporary style led by a band and organ
  • key-note speaker Bishop John Finney, author of the exciting new book 'Emerging Evangelism' and co-author of the Emmaus course
  • Stories from people whose lives have been transformed through attending Alpha
    and Emmaus courses
  • dynamic prayer and also contemplative prayer stations

We hope that you will put the date of this prayer event in your diaries and plan to come with others from your local Christian community. There will be more publicity (posters and invitation flyers) available nearer the time of the event but in the mean time if you would like more information, please feel free to contact one of us from the planning group.

We look forward to meeting many of you at this exciting and significant event.
